Baking soda is cheap, and it is a miraculous substance really.  I buy huge boxes of it.  Anyway, here are some things you can do with baking soda:

  1. It helps get our grease and dirt when added to laundry soap.  Add about 1/2cup to the wash.
  2.  Three tablespoons baking soda to one quart water makes a safe and effective marble cleaner.  Wipe on, let stand, and rinse.
  3. Clean the dishwasher and keep it smelling fresh by running it through a cycle with just 1/4 cup baking soda.
  4. If you scorch a pan before you throw it out put a layer of baking soda on the bottom and add about 1/2 inch layer of water.  Soak over night.  In the mornign you may find that the scorched part comes right off and you have saved your pan.
  5. 1/2 cup in the bath water is a great skin softener and soother.
  6. You can dust baking soda under your arms as a deodorant
  7. Soak dishcloths and sponges in baking soda and borax to disinfect and help them stay smelling good.
  8. Here are a ton more ideas form Reader’s Digest.
  9. 1/4 cup baking soda mixed iwht 1 quart warm water makes a great cleaning solution for the insides of refrigerators and microwaves.
  10. Clean crayon off the wall with a paste of baking soda and water.
