Homemade Wood Furniture Polish:Great for Antiques
I admit to being a clean freak. I love when my house is clean and it smells good. Sometimes after I clean a room I just like to sit down and admire it for awhile!’
Right now things are chaotic and the house is not as clean as I would like. It is a season and those seasons happen to all of us. But when I do start polishing wood again this recipe for furniture polish is the one I will use.
Antiques especially need to have moisture kept in the wood. Many commercial furniture polishes are too harsh for antiques. Think of it like washing your middle aged face with the clearasil you used as a kid.
Just mix 2 parts olive oil with 1 part lemon juice. Add a teaspoon of colloidal silver if you live in a humid area, and few drops of lemongrass essential oil. Shake well to blend before using. To use just put a few drops on the wood, or on a soft cloth. I like flannel or polar fleece for polishing. Rub into the wood well until it is absorbed. Keep shaking the mixture to blend it before using because it will separate.
When you get done with a room it will smell so good you won’t believe it. Your wood furniture will stay in good condition. The olive oil keeps the moisture in the wood and the lemon juice cuts dirt and grime. The colloidal silver will help your furniture not mildew in really humid weather and the lemograss essential oil ads a great smell.
