My husband and I were just talking the other day about how we wished we could make some of our own tools (we were needing a certain sized wrench that we didn’t have and that led to a discussion about what we would have done pre-mass-manufactured goods). Thanks for the link — might REALLY come in handy!

I love being creative and working with my hands. My husband is even more creative and trys to tackle and usually succeeds, many more projects than I do. Just recently, he started to build a desk for us, to help save money and to have better quality then is available at the store.

Reminded me of my Dad’s workshop. In later years he graduated to electric saws but everything else he did with hand tools. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t build. The thing I remember most is the floor to ceiling cabinet he built for the kitchen at our summer cottage. It is still there and is now 60 years old. The thing I loved most was the 48 apartment Martin birdhouse that still stands. Loved to sit in the hammock and watch the little birds flit in and out of their apartments.

Love the site; our roles are reversed in the family and my husband hasn’t a clue about the home repairs; so this resource for the female spouse has and is so excellent, since my role is that of bookeeper. The domestic engineers with monies so tight in each family budget needs this resource that is so reliable and trustworthy. Many Thanks SW

My father managed to keep majority of tools in a normal size toolbox. He could do virtually anything with your basic tools. My husband has several fancy powertools including more handtools than will fit in the garage. For all those tools, we can almost get a picture hung right.

I’m super lucky…my husband and Dad are great with tools and fixing things and even building things so I don’t have to hire anyone to do these tasks. We are all about being self-sufficient and living *below* our means and this is one way to do it!

My Dad was a carpenter and my hubby inherited a lot of his tools. I see some of the ones my Dad passed on to him on that blog. People call my boys to come and fix their stuff LOL.
Thanks for the link to a cool blog.

My Dad is amazing, he was forced to quit school in the 8th grade to help bring money into his household. He worked the same job for 41 years. He built his own home (and it turned out great!). He is a jack of all trades as he listens and learns. We call on him for everything. I am very proud to be his daughter. I sent him a link to Toolmonger and I am sure he will get much enjoyment out of it.
Thank you.

Did you have to say homeschool project??? Now, there is ONE MORE THING to add to my list. LOL! Actually, I think it is great to have and know this kind of info, just like to know other things to be self sufficient in a worst case scenario. These things may very well come in to play as very important to know someday.

I have a hammer, screwdrivers and a few other small tools and I can fix a lot of small things that need repairing around here, but when it comes to the large things I always call a professional. It’s really nice to know how to repair and fix things, though, since you never know when those skills will be needed. Thanks for having the contest!

I don’t have many tools except for the normal screw drivers of various sizes, pliers and a hammer. I actually bought a cordless screwdriver a while back because I got sick of using a manual screwdriver to put bookcases and such together.
