Simple Woman’s Daybook
Isn’t it strange to think that the summer is nearly over and soon autumn will be here?
It is a time of longing for me. I have never gotten used to the lack of autumn in Texas and I miss the crisp days, the scent of leaves burning, the intense colors, and apple orchards of my childhood.
Here is my daybook entry for this week..for more head over to The Simple Woman
Outside my Window…Everything is unusually green for August in Texas because of all of the rain we have gotten. The chickens are strolling the yard looking for bugs and there is a light breeze.
I am thinking…That I am overwhelmed with my schedule and feel very much like a leaf spinning in the chilly autumn gusts.
From the learning rooms…My 16year old starts his first day of college this morning. The others are self directed for the most part while I finish up the cookbook. My 14 year old started a band, my 12 year old is writing a book…10 year old is lost in history and the 8 year old is struggling to learn to read. The 5 year old is fascinated by the spelling of her name and I can hear her throughout the day spelling it in song.
I am thankful for…Being back at our home church, where we are with like-minded believers and are loved.
From the kitchen…Nothing happening there right now.
I am wearing…jeans, black tank top and a shawl because it is chilly to me.
I am reading…Just Do It, a book the author sent me to review for Marriage Actually.
I am hoping…We can get someone in our rental house soon. The last tenant trashed it and it is taking awhile to get it ready for someone else.
I am creating…new and better habits
I am hearing…ceiling fans, cars speeding by on the road to take children to school, the kids moving into their day.
Around the house...Absolute chaos. Sigh.
One of my favorite things…Time with Marc
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…Work on 10 recipes a day for the cookbook, finish up other writing assignments to meet deadline…
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you..
This is a painting I did back in the day when I used to have time to paint and draw!
HAve a great week. :)

Hi. Thanks for visiting my daybook I think I’ve browsed your blog before. I will be back :)
We have friends that moved from here to San Antonio last year and wanted us to come too and my husband to work for their business but I just can’t imagine leaving our seasons we have up here!
Have a wonderful day!

Hi Marye! Thanks for dropping by my blog today and for leaving your nice comments. :) I completely sympathize with your longing for well-defined seasons, especially autumn! That’s my favorite season too, and it’s not much better here in Florida than it is in Texas (I lived there for three years, so I know). Your artwork is beautiful! Perhaps some day you’ll have time to get back to it. You have a gift, for sure. Have a wonderful day!

Wow, you are very talented! That painting is absolutely beautiful! I can’t even draw a stick figure… :0) I really enjoyed reading your daybook…my son is 8 and has a goal of starting college when he is 16. He wants to be a doctor and an author/illustrator…high ambitions! LOL
Thank you for visiting my daybook earlier. You can find a picture of my unfinished curtains at:

My mom was from TX and always like to visit us here in SC in the fall because of the fall colors. We’re seeing a few yellow leaves on the ground but it won’t really feel and look fallish for a few weeks yet.
Your painting is lovely! My kids are older now (14-24), and I can assure you time to do those things does come back. The only problem then is being able to see well enough to do it. :-) At least I have found that with cross stitching — but I need to get my eyes checked anyway.

Beautiful painting…I love to paint too, but not as talented, or should I say I haven’t painted for a long time. It has been rainy here in New Mexico also…….too many mosquitos….
Great daybook.

Beautiful painting! I know I’d love to be able to paint like that.
I can’t believe fall is on its way already. It feels like summer just flew by… Thank goodness though fall is my favorite time of year. :)

You are very talented! I love fall, too. I’ve lived in South Carolina and Oklahoma, and it was very different from my New England youth. I’m wearing a small blanket around my shoulders right now. It’s so chilly in the house that I could easily turn on the heat, but I don’t want to use any oil until September at the earliest!
Thanks for commenting on my Daybook. I hope you have a great week!
